Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sharply criticized the Centre over the fuel and LPG shortage, warning that insufficient preparation could harm millions. He shared protest photos on social media and questioned the Prime Minister?s absence from Parliament, using the slogan, ?Narendra missing from Parliament, cylinders missing from the country.?

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand and sought his blessings amid the seer?s ongoing cow-protection campaign. The Shankaracharya began a ?Gau Bachao? yatra from Varanasi on March 7 and plans a broader tour from May 2 to July 23, calling it the ?Gavishti Yatra.? He has said he is not forming a political party and is focused on religious causes.

Opposition parties have begun preparations to bring an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Notices reportedly have signatures from at least 120 Lok Sabha MPs and 60 Rajya Sabha MPs. A TMC MP is leading the effort, accusing the CEC of biased conduct, delays in probing election fraud, and a controversial SIR exercise that allegedly deprived voters of rights.

On the security front, India?s Deputy Army Chief Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said China has built hundreds of villages near the Arunachal Pradesh border. He cited about 450 villages near the LAC and noted broader infrastructure expansion, including roads and rail links, as well as 628 ?xiaokang? villages along the northern frontier.

In Parliament, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns after firing targeted former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah. He alleged that the absence of full statehood has worsened law and order, putting senior leaders at risk.

The Supreme Court granted bail to two accused in the 2022 Sidhu Moosewala murder case, Pavon Bishnoi and Jagtar Singh, during trial. The court noted arguments that their role was limited to arranging a vehicle and logistical support, but allowed conditional release.

Finally, the Centre has asked states to closely monitor LPG supplies and clamp down on hoarding or black marketing. A high-level meeting led by Home Secretary Govind Mohan reviewed steps to prevent artificial scarcity and reassure consumers amid the Gulf-linked supply shock.
