Gurugram gets India’s first LPG gas ATM, cylinders available in minutes

Gurugram has introduced what is being described as India’s first LPG “gas ATM,” a new facility aimed at cutting waiting time for cooking gas. The smart vending machine has been set up at Central Park Flower Valley in Sohna as a pilot by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), according to reports.

The idea is simple: instead of waiting for a home delivery slot, a user can approach the machine and collect a filled LPG cylinder within minutes. The system is designed to speed up access and bring a measure of convenience for residents who need quick refills, especially when delivery timelines are uncertain.

The launch comes amid reports of LPG supply disruptions linked to ongoing tensions in West Asia, which have raised concerns about the availability of fuel in some areas. While routine deliveries continue, the new approach appears to be aimed at building a faster, on-demand option that can ease pressure during disruptions.

As a pilot, the project is expected to be closely watched for its reliability, safety, and public response. If it performs well, the gas ATM model could be expanded to other locations, offering an alternative channel for LPG distribution.

For now, the Gurugram installation marks a notable shift toward automated fuel access for households, blending a retail-style experience with essential energy supply.
